WWLB033. GOTLAND
Location: Gotland, Sweden
Keeper: Anna Norberg
Status: LB not yet installed
Guide:
The box located at Hångers Källa (the spring of Hångers) in Lärbro parish, Gotland, Sweden.

You get to island of Gotland with a boat from either Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn (hamn means harbor) into the town of Visby. From there you drive north on route 148 towards Fårösund (Ingmar Bergman lives on Fårö, an island of Gotland). About 33 kilometers after departing Visby and just before entering Lärbro village make a left turn at the yellow sign for "Hångers källa". Drive down the narrow asphalt road for about 2 km until you reach a crossroad with a sign for Hångers to your right. Just a few hundred meters down the road on the left side is the spring of Hångers. Follow the water from the spring as it runs under the trees and takes a 90 degree turn along the side of the field. You have to jump a couple of trees and a soggy area but you'll find the box on a tree stump. It's clearly visible if you just walk away a little from main gathering area.

The spring is a big tourist attraction because the most well known Swedish psalm "Den blomstertid nu kommer" is supposed to be inspired by this place. Kolmodin, who wrote it, was a minister in Lärbro parish at the end of 1600.
