Guide:

If you go from Punta del Este to José Ignacio, just before you reach the José Ignacio lagoon bridge turn left. Go the short distance up to the edge of the lagoon next to the windsurf school and fishermens huts.

From there look North towards the islets which are not too far away and a bit to your left. On the second islet you will notice a tall pole with pegs stuck on it´s side as a ladder. On the top of the pole is the letterbox. When the lagoon is low you can wade or swim, but you can always ask a windsurfer to take you there or you can ask a fisherman to row you out.
