Mesostic
Herbarium
(2003-ongoing)
The mesostic is a name poem, much favoured by John Cage who wrote them
on the names of his friends and gave them as birthday gifts. Mesostic
herbarium is an archive of mesostics written on the names of flora,
using one word per line. The project was realised as an anthology
in the small press series; in a series of photographs
by Morven Gregor of the poems engarved onto botanical name labels; and
in Propogator, an installation of the labels at Yorkshire Sculpture
Park.
