The
Woodland Platform
(2003)
NVA and
City Design created a contemporary contemplative garden in wasteland
behind Tramway Arts Centre (Glasgow). The Woodland Platform is a shelter
and renga platform, its form being foursquare oak benches. An angled
roof, with a single oak growing through the centre. Beneath two of the
benches is a xylotheque, a library of the native woodland. This is a
complete set of hinged oak books, each one inlaid with a sample from
one of the eighteen native tree species.
